Darjeeling is an elite black high-mountain tea. Its unique taste and limited production made it one of the most expensive teas in the world.
This glorious tea is grown only in the Indian Darjeeling region in the northern part of the Himalayas. This tea is collected and made by hand from the buds and upper young leaves of the tea bush. Unlike other varieties of black tea, Darjeeling is not entirely fermented(~90%), and on this basis it is closer to oolong teas.
Darjeeling is considered to be the “champagne of tea” for its natural flavor of muscat, which can not be reproduced anywhere else, in any other tea. The history of the famous tea is less than two hundred years old. English surgeon Dr. Campbell dumped some tea seedlings in the garden in 1841 near his residence at Beachwood in Darjeeling, at an altitude of 2,134 meters above sea level. The quality of the crop exceeded the ambitious hopes of Campbell, and in a few years, at the government level, it was decided to develop tea production in this region. Today there are 87 tea gardens in the region where Darjeeling is grown, and each has its own name and its own special story. Of course, this legendary tea is worth it.
